By Jeff Daniels

November 15 is approaching: the beginning of firearm deer hunting season at the Soady deer camp. Part of a macho male ritual unique to the Upper Peninsula, Albert Soady and his sons Rueben and Remnar go to deer camp to deal with the Soady family jinx....Reuben, who has never bagged a buck. Will Rueben get his buck? Who is the singing DNR ranger? Is the Soady camp cursed? Jeff Daniel's hilariously twisted comedy about five Yoopers is an irreverent exposure of the the secrets and surprises nestled away for centuries at Yooper deer camp. Escanaba in the Moonlight was first performed at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea in 1995 and according to Daniels, "That honesty, that love of family and the land...is really the heart and soul of Escanaba in da Moonlight". .  click here for Yooper terms:

For nearly three quarters of a century, Soady men have trekked to their little "home away from home" north of Escanaba - the heart and soul of the U.P. - to drink, cause a little bit of trouble, and bag bucks. But in the words of Patriarch Albert (Harve Presnell), "Dat year camp was as tense as a moose's butt durin' fly season."

On to deer camp
