WHY I LOVE IT

Celebrating our tenth year with the return of......

July 9 - 13    July 16 -20

The Jeff Daniels prequel to Escanaba  In Da Moonlight:  Escanaba In Love

July 23 - 27  July 30 - Aug. 3

Celebrating Maritime Month Treasure Island: A Pirates Tale

Aug. 6 -10  Aug. 13 - 17

Our first Shakespearean Play A Midsummer Nights Dream

Aug. 20 - 24

Next year is the 10th Anniversary of Lake Superior Theatre...
Our season begins with the musical that started it all -  and the author Shelley Russell returns to direct Beacon on the Rock!  A musical celebration of our diverse heritage, this is a story about the people who came to this isolated region and found a way to survive.  You will laugh, cry and love with these families who left their homelands to carve out a home from unforgiving wilderness. And you will marvel at their courage and vision and hopefully talk about your heritage.

Our next adventure is the prequel to Escanaba in the Moonlight....Escanaba in Love by Jeff Daniels.
Visit the Soady deer camp in the midst of World War II, forty years before the original.
Meet the love of young Albert Soady Jr.’s life, Big Betty Baloo -
the woman destined to become the mother of Reuben and Remnar Soady -
along with a whole new cast of wacky Yoopers.  A terrific warm comedy you will love~

The 95-foot pirate ship, Madeline, is planning to attack the City of Marquette. The Pirates are planning a weeklong invasion of Marquette (August 8-18, 2008!  The pirates are planning a cultural, educational and community festival which will include a “pirate regatta” in the Lower Harbor, a community concert with “Song of the Lakes,” a maritime museum pirate exhibit, tours of the Madeline pirate ship, a treasure hunt,a Pirate Ball, book readings, pirate movies, a local pirate market, pirate flag making, and much more.  To create this festive learning environment for men, women, and children of all ages, LST has arranged for Alumn Orion Couling to write and direct "Treasure Island" (Dead Men Don't Bite) in conjunction with Marquette Maritime Month and the Downtown Marquette Pirate Festival.

The first Shakespearean play at LST ends our season with the comedy A Midsummer Nights Dream

Lake Superior Theatre has been bringing you live theatre since 1999 in the working boathouse right on the lake for your summer enjoyment.  Historical tourism is the new, best thing and just like that...some 10 years later, we are the latest thing!

Join us for a season to celebrate as we present and preserve our history!
