MARQUETTE - The Lake Superior Theatre has announced its summer season offerings
2013 Scheduled performances are:
- "Beacon on the Rock" - 7:30 p.m. July 5-7 and July 10-14. LST’s signature original historical musical about mining in the UP returns to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. A musical celebration of our diverse heritage, and the human spirit it is a story about people who came to this isolated region and found a way to survive the natural and social challenges.
- "Pirates of Penzance" - 7:30 p.m. July 17-21 and July 24-28. This Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera fairly explodes across the stage with damsels in distress, a sexy Pirate King, a delightfully dotty Major-General, and a score you will hum all the way home.
- "Honk Jr” - 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1-4 and Aug. 7-10. HONK! Jr. is a contemporary retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. Presented by Lake Superior Youth Theatre and featuring a cast of area youth.
- "Superior Broadway" - 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14-16 Directed and arranged by Denise Clark, Superior Broadway will celebrate the songs and scenes that have been favorites of LST audiences for the last 15 years pairing them with the amazing talent in our community.
- "A Man Named Marquette" - 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19, 20 An original historical play written and performed by members of the Lake Superior Youth Theatre. The show centers around the life of Father Jacques Marquette and the statue in downtown Marquette.
Lake Superior Theatre is at 270 Lake Shore Blvd., Marquette. Parking is available at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, a short walk from the theater. For information or reservations, call 906-227-7625 or visit www.lakesuperiortheatre.com.
The box office is at Lower Harbor Park near the water's edge; look for the small lighthouse. Box office hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. seven days a week, beginning June 24. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/students and $7.50 for age 14 and younger. Cost is $10 per person for groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be ordered by mail or phone before June 24.
Season tickets cost $50 for adults, $40 for seniors/students and $25 for youth ages 14 and younger. Season ticket holders receive discounted ticket prices and are offered ticket exchanges if in advance. To order by phone, call 227-7625.
