July 28-Aug 1 Directed by Jackie Love (A Vertigo Collaboration)
You will also
love the next musical, The Last Five Years -
something like a sort of modern I Do I Do. It is an
elegantly crafted chamber musical, in which a couple
simultaneously tell the story of their relationship-one from
start to finish, the other from finish to start. With Jeff
Spencer and Denise Clark as the talented performers
traveling between the ecstasy of hope and the ache of
reality this will be a special show as well as our first
Vertigo collaboration.
Aug 4-8 and Aug 11-15
Directed by B .G. Bradley
Saluting our Twelfth Season is
the LST presentation of Twelfth Night.
Twelfth Night will travel through time
along the lake with props and costumes from several eras.
It will have a hint of U.P. magic, lots of comedy, music,
and all the grandeur and wit that Shakespeare provides.
If music be the food of love, play on! Zaniness, wordplay,
melancholy and song as only Shakespeare can do it and as
only LST can present it. A nautical tale set right here on
our big lake with a wooden tall ship to set sail on! A
journey through our nautical past and present. Become a
time traveler with the sound of lapping water ever present,
right here by our own great lake. BG promises a special
surprise for audiences at the beginning of the show which
will incorporate the great surroundings that are so much a
part of LST. LST and Twelfth Night...if you love
Shakespeare or just love a good time this is the one to
catch this summer!
Special Season Addition August 18,19,20 Directed by
Rob Engelhart
Our new adventure this year
will be a new comic chamber opera written and directed by
Rob Engelhart, The Lion, the Slave
and the Rodent.
If you've never been to an opera, don't miss
this opportunity. It's in English. It's one act and is based
on two Aesop fables. The chamber opera combines two of
Aesop's fables - "Androcles and the Lion," the story of an
escaped slave who pulls a thorn from the paw of a lion and
is later spared by that same lion when they are forced to
fight in the arena; and "The Lion and the Mouse," the story
of a lion who decides not to eat a mouse that wakes him up
from a nap and is later rescued from a hunter's net by that
same mouse. Told entirely through song, the opera contains
jokes and humor that can be enjoyed by kids and adults. It
also has numerous references to popular musicals, including
"West Side Story" and "The Wizard of Oz." And remember that
"Even the weak and small may be of help to those much
mightier than themselves."
